There’s more to furniture making than dovetails and mortise and tenon joints. Fine furniture should be well designed and built efficiently. Good craftmanship should be a given.
My work uses solid wood and veneer. I let the function of a piece determine the materials, always using the best I can obtain.

The woods I use include ash, cherry, walnut, maple, curly maple, douglas fir, oak and mahogany, finished in oil or lacquer, depending on the function of the piece. The examples presented here were all commissioned. Some of them, such as the dining chairs, have become signature designs. Many have been adapted to new uses. I expect my work will continue to evolve as my passion for furniture making grows with every new idea.

I’ve been a woodworker for over twenty years. Over the years I’ve gained a wealth of experience in a variety of forms from furniture to cabinetry, to architectural millwork. Working in different shops has allowed me to synthesize an array of techniques into a unique approach. I get as much inspiration from learning a new technique, or from using a new tool as I get from reading a book on George Hepplewhite or Marcel Breuer.
